Pete Kitchen biographical materials, 1870-1948.

Summary: Primarily one scrapbook created by Pete Kitchen's granddaughter, Nellie West, concerning Pete Kitchen and his son-in-law, T.D. Casanega. Includes photographs of Casanega and his family, newspaper clippings, and transcripts of legal documents and newspaper accounts. There is also a transcript for a 1948 radio program about Pete Kitchen. Also present is one handwritten note, 1870, from Kitchen to Charles E. Mowry and a related receipt to L.M. Jacobs as well as a letter from T.D. Casanega authorizing Nellie West to sign a mining lease.

Pioneer rancher and sheriff in Pima County and the Santa Cruz Valley, Casanega came to Arizona in 1877. He married Pete Kitchen's niece, Apolonia Cordova in 1885, was known as a "cattle baron of Tubac", and spent many years in Nogales. He was deputy sheriff in Quijotoa, Ariz. in 1884.
